Central Facilities

The UK science community is supported by access to state of the art neutron and synchrotron sources for experiments in condensed matter with nanoscale structures and properties. At Reading we make extensive use of these facilities to probe emergent properties of nanostructured materials, such as polymers, as functions of growth or processing conditions. Reading further benefits from its very close proximity to the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory of the CCLRC which is the site of the new Diamond synchrotron as well as the world's leading pulsed neutron and muon source - ISIS.

A postgraduate student experiencing the challenge of working at Central Facilities - here at the Daresbury synchrotron.
